Dr Gauruv Malhan

After working in the NHS for over a decade in a variety of roles within mental health, including inpatient and outpatient secure forensic settings, prisons and general adult settings, Dr Malhan now works as an independent psychiatrist, providing assessments for individuals who suffer with mental health illnesses and find it difficult to access services.

Dr Malhan's practice is founded upon delivering compassionate and comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses and treatment pathways with an ethos of holistic care and support. Appreciating the complex relationships and interplay between the mind, brain and one's physical health has further helped Dr Malhan guide his approach as the Clinical Director of Talkmind.

Parallel with the above, Dr Malhan also acts in the capacity of an experienced Expert Witness, and is regularly instructed in the Civil (from Defendant and Claimant solicitors) and Criminal Courts (from the CPS, Court, Police and Defence solicitors) both nationally and internationally (UK and Ireland), as well as providing independent psychiatric and capacity assessments for the Court of Protection, Local Authorities, and occasionally the Family Court. The instructions vary across a wide range of issues, which include, but are not limited to, causation / condition and prognosis, capacity to litigate / manage finances, fitness to plead / stand trial, McNaughton's insanity, intent, sentencing recommendations, etc.
