About Us & History

Talkmind is a mental health clinic that ensures people have access to mental health wellbeing services, allowing them to live their lives in the healthiest and most productive way possible.
All of our professionals have an understanding of the difficulties their patients have in accessing mental health support and how extended wait times are negatively effecting people’s lives, their ability to function and their increased suffering as a consequence of this.

The initial conception of Talkmind arose during COVID when access to services became even more challenging. We recognised that the threshold to access secondary mental health became higher, and the range of [complex] mental health difficulties that primary care physicians were expected to manage also increased, thus adding to their workload.
It was also recognised that online consultations, in many cases, did not impact on the quality of psychiatric assessments; in fact, the convenience was favoured by patients, family / friends / carers, and doctors alike.
Talkmind was created - a service to provide holistic psychiatric assessments and provide care and treatment in a safe and convenient way. Since then we have evolved in providing a range of disciplines to support the spectrum of mental health challenges that people face every day.

How it works

We are a team that focus on you
every step of the way.

How does psychological therapy work?

Therapy sessions are a collaborative process and are undertaken in a place that is safe for you. These are typically up to 60 minutes long and are on a weekly-fortnightly basis. Our therapists at Talkmind are flexible in accommodating you and your needs and the complexities of your life.

What treatment will be available?

An individualised treatment plan will be created with you for best results to improving your mental well-being. We offer an holistic approach, which could include a combination and / or review of medication, therapy, lifestyle adjustments, physical health investigations, support networks and any other things relevant to your wellness.

Will medication always be prescribed?

Where relevant, some mental health difficulties (e.g. ADHD) require medication to help support you on your symptom management journey. In these scenarios, medication will be offered to you, often in conjunction with other therapies. Thus, your treatment plan is offers an holistic approach, which could include a combination of medication, therapy, lifestyle adjustments, physical health investigations, support networks and any other things relevant to your wellness.

How many follow ups are required?

This varies and will be advised on a case-by-case basis. Once diagnosed and on a treatment plan, most of our patients titration process will require circa 4-10 follow up sessions. However, if other medication is to be trialled, this could of course change the number of sessions required.

Can the NHS take over my prescribing?

Yes; once your treatment plan is optimal following a titration period, consideration can be given to the NHS taking over the treatment plan through a shared care agreement. However, your GP is not under any obligation to enter this arrangement.

Are shared care agreements chargeable?

Yes; these can be arranged at a fee, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed. Do note, once you are established onto a therapeutic dose of medication, a review will be required every 3-12 months from us.

Do you offer non-
medication approaches?

In many cases, psychological / talking therapy will be central to managing symptoms. If this is required, an initial assessment with a psychologist would be recommended and discussed with you, and a referral can be made.

We continually ensure the highest level of support is maintained at all times and all guidance is
followed and adhered to, which puts our patients minds’ at ease as they can be confident they will
receive consistent and well managed levels of care at all times.
