What is SEN?

Simply put, SEN is Special Educational Needs and SEND is Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

That is, learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for a child to be educated in a mainstream environment, compared to their peers and often implies that special educational provision is required.

SEND is a broader term that encompasses both SEN and physical or mental disabilities, regardless of whether they directly impact learning.
